Is a six-time Grammy Award winning saxophonist who has earned eight Gold albums and one album certified Platinum for sales the exceeded a million copies. He has released more than 24 albums in a career that spans 40 years.

Sanborn was heavily influenced by the sounds of Chicago Blues while growing up in Kirkwood, Missouri. He learned to play in his pre-teens and was so good that at age 14 he played with Albert King and Little Milton. He played Woodstock too, as a member of the Paul Butterfield Band.

Gaining recognition as a solo artist with the release of Taking Off in 1975, Sanborn continued to receive acclaim and awards throughout the 1980s. He won first Grammy for the single “All I Need Is You,” from the album Voyeur on which he was joined by producer, bassist and co-headliner Marcus Miller. His other Grammy Award winning albums are: Straight to the Heart, 1985 Best Jazz Fusion Performance (Vocal or Instrumental); Double Vision, recorded with pianist Bob James, the 1986 Best Jazz Fusion Performance (Vocal or Instrumental); Chicago Song the 1988 Best R&B Instrumental Performance; Close Up, 1988 Best Pop Instrumental Performance (Orchestra, Group or soloist) and in 1999, the album Inside won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.

Sanborn has performed on both radio and television broadcasts. He has been a regular guest member of Paul Shaffer’s band on Late Night with David Letterman.

Time and The River, Sanborn’s latest CD, was just released in April 2015.
