Once a generation, a blues artist comes along who not only reminds mainstream audiences how deeply satisfying and emotionally moving the best blues music can be but shakes the genre to its core. Christone “Kingfish” Ingram is that artist. The explosive new blues artist will perform Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at the 10th John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival.

Kingfish: A New Phenomenon

His talents, especially his musicianship, are recognized by contemporary blues masters while his soul-touching voice and lyrics captured the attention of leaders in the entertainment field; all whose praises helped propel the career of this explosive new blues artist.

In 2019 he released the debut album KINGFISH for which he co-wrote eight of the 12 tracks.
The album debuted #1 on both the ‘Billboard Blues’ and ‘Heatseeker’ charts. Kingfish’s album won in five top categories at the 2020 Blues Awards sponsored by the Blues Foundation including, Best Instrumentalist – Guitar, Contemporary Blues Album of the Year, Emerging Artist Album of the Year, Contemporary Male Artist of the Year, and the coveted Album of the Year.

From Legendary Roots

Hailing from Clarksdale, Mississippi, Kingfish was raised in a musical family a few miles away from the area where muddy Delta waters gave birth to mythical tales of quintessential bluesman Robert Johnson making a pact with the devil at the crossroads of legendary Highways 61 and 49. A student of the Delta’s musical history, Kingfish is acutely aware of the musicians and the music that emerged from his corner of the world. “I do think I have an old soul, that I’ve been here before,” he says. “I’m moving forward with one foot in the past.”
